Tusker will rise, warns Coach Matano

Tusker FC coach Robert Matano has termed their barren draw against Bandari FC as progress for his squad noting that they had no proper preparations ahead of the season.

Tusker have already been beaten, losing 2-1 to AFC Leopards in their opening fixture of the campaign, before earning a point against the Dockers at the weekend.

The experienced tactician has at the same time promised to produce better results after at least five matches as they target the title.

“We are playing league matches which acts as our pre season because we did not have much of it, but things will be soon be better,” said Matano.

The fiery tactician also noted that his squad rotation was a tactical move aimed at containing Bandari’s speedy wingers led by Abdallah Hassan.

“I left out Sammy Meja, a natural left back for Namanda and it worked very well,” he explained.

On his part, his counterpart, Ken Odhiambo, of Bandari, has blamed his players for the draw after missing open chances but promised to have the team get their winning mojo soon.

The dockers missed clear cut chances when Abdallah Hassan and William Wadri shot wide with only Tusker goalkeeper Emery Mvuyekure to beat.

“We dropped two points and we will correct it in our next assignment but we have been training on how to score and I don’t know why they played this way,” Odhiambo who also doubles up as the Harambee Stars assistant coach lamented.

Bandari will pitch camp in Nairobi ahead of this weekend’s date with Nairobi City Stars as Tusker travel to Kisumu to tackle Western Stima in round three matches of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League.
