Twice postponed, KBF leagues set for resumption this weekend

After much uncertainty over the resumption of the top tier league, the Kenyan Basketball Federation has set this weekend as the ultimate tip off date with several matches lined up for Saturday at the University of Nairobi grounds.

Eagle wings will take on UoN Dynamites in the first women’s fixture of the day, set for 9am while Zetech University will collide with Storms shortly after 10am before African Nazarene face off with Kenyatta University Oryx from 12pm.

The men’s fixture will see Strathmore University face Kenyatta University Pirates from 2pm as Equity Bank confront Emyba from 4pm.

Initially the league was set to resume last month on May 15 only to be rescheduled for last weekend but this too failed to materialise.

KBF fixture secretary Joseph Amoko told Citizen Digital that the competition could not get underway last weekend as the federation had given the clubs ‘short’ notice adding that there were no Covid-19 protocols in place.

And as part of the return protocols, teams will be expected to screen their players for Covid-19.
