Ulinzi Starlets stun champions Vihiga Queens to lift FKF Women's Super Cup

A goal in each half was enough to hand the paramilitary side the title in the league's curtain raiser, successfully defending it after its inauguration last year where the saw off Thika Queens 11-10 on post match penalties.

Midfield maestro Cindy Ngairah showed her class when she dribbled past two Vihiga Queens players in the 18-yard box, setting up Joyking Lady with a splitting pass to open the deadlock in the fortieth minute, handing Ulinzi a 1-0 lead into the break.

Vihiga Queens efforts of searching for an equaliser were thwarted by Mercy Airo's sublime goal in the fifty eighth minute to give the paramilitary side total control of the match.

Mercy Airo was close to making it 3-0 three minutes later but wasted a golden chance in the penalty area.

The triumph will give Ulinzi Starlets a much needed morale as they look to end Boniface Nyamunyamu's Vihiga Queens dominance in the league after finishing third in the last campaign.

The two sides will meet in their opening fixture next weekend at Mumias Sports Complex with KWPL reigning champions Vihiga  seeking a revenge against Ulinzi which has proved to be their bogey team.
