Ulinzi Stars raid Zoo in four-goal fest

Ulinzi Stars run in the Kenyan Premier League to 12 games with a 4-0 victory over Zoo FC at Afraha Stadium, Nakuru on Sunday.

Since the term began Ulinzi have lost just one match but have bounced back to record an impressive 12-game unbeaten record.

And at Afraha, First-half goals from Enosh Ochieng, John Njuguna and a brace from Oscar Wamalwa saw Benjamin Nyangweso’s side jump to position five on the table with 25 points, three behind table-topping  Gor Mahia who beat Kisumu All Stars 3-0 in Kisumu.

Zoo’s defensive frailties were all too apparent throughout the game, and Ulinzi opened their account in the 4th minute, Enosh rising higher to head home Daniel Waweru’s cross.

The soldiers pressed on with their pace and intensity and three minutes later John Njuguna collected a loose ball on the left wing and his left-footed shot was too powerful for keeper Vincent Misikhu to handle.

Back from national duty with Harambee Stars at the Cecafa Senior Challenge  Cup where he bagged the Golden Boot award, striker  Oscar Wamalwa could not stop scoring after bagging a brace; a goal in either half, the first a header in the 37th minute and a tap in in the 54th minute, to sink hopeless Zoo.

Zoo failed to create an open chance as they headed to the tunnel trailing 3-0, a result that would have taken more than a miracle to turn around as the soldiers looked to dominate large parts of the proceedings.

After the breather, Zoo looked much better and had two chances which were all squandered by their blunt attackers.

With 20 minutes remaining, Ulinzi were dealt a blow; George Omondi hobbled off with an injury and was replaced by Edgar Mukolwe.

There was nothing much to show by either side, late in the second stanza.

The win  lifted Ulinzi up to fifth on goal difference as they share the same number of points with KCB.
