Umbro and Gor Mahia unveil new kit

Kenyan Premier League (KPL) record champions Gor Mahia on Tuesday received samples of their new Umbro kits at the Jericho’s Camp Toyoyo training grounds, in what is a precursor to the official full kit presentation in a fortnight.

The function was presided over by Umbro CEO South Africa David Ricketts, who expressed his delight in partnering with the Kenyan giants.

The CEO, in his remarks, signalled his intention to go beyond the kit deal in their partnership with Gor.

‘’I cannot hide my joy in this partnership which has now come to pass. We started the process way two years back when Gor visited Liverpool Training College before their match against Everton,’’said Ricketts.

Gor tactician Steven Pollack lauded the gesture saying it is a motivation to his charges who he says have endured a difficult period without sponsors.

‘’I can assure you this is a special beginning of motivation to our boys and I wish to thank Umbro for the gesture hoping for more from them,” the coach told.

Meanwhile, the CEO revealed they are in the process of signing partnership deals with five other KPL teams including AFC Leopards and Sofapaka.

Ricketts also indicated that they are currently kitting six teams in the South African top league, and will work towards a partnership between those teams and Gor in future.

In the meantime Gor Senior 1st Vice Chairman  Francis Wasuna said the deal will be complete in a fortnight, when the South African company will avail full kits and merchandise to the club.

Gor next play Bandari FC in Nakuru on Saturday where they will be hoping to get back to the summit of the league. They sit third on the log behind Tusker FC and Kakamega Homeboyz.
