Unstoppable Lizbaze, Elites crowned KKK Cup champions

Lizbaze FC and Elites FC were crowned champions of the fifth edition of the KKK Cup Tournament held at the Kiprugut Chumo Stadium in Kericho County.

The tournament, championed by Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot, continues to be a major platform for nurturing sports talent in the region.

Lizbaze FC claimed the men’s title with a 2–1 victory over Raiders FC of Belgut, while Elites FC secured the women’s championship with a strong performance in the final scoring 5 against Kapkugerwet FC

More than 30 teams participated in this year’s edition, which also featured volleyball competitions for men and persons living with disabilities, reinforcing the tournament’s commitment to community engagement and talent development.

Senator Cheruiyot highlighted the importance of platforms such as the KKK Cup in providing opportunities for young athletes across Kericho and beyond.

As part of its continued support for grassroots sports, a betting firm partnered with the KKK Cup to elevate the tournament’s impact, contributing KSh 15 million toward prize money and tournament facilitation.

The firm also provided 52 full sets of sports kits to participating teams, improving team preparedness and enhancing the competition experience.

Speaking during the finals, Head of Partnerships and Sponsorships, Japheth Akhulia, reiterated the company’s dedication to empowering youth and strengthening local competitions.

He noted that the level of talent displayed throughout the tournament demonstrates the potential that exists within grassroots sports and the importance of sustained investment.

The event attracted notable guests, including Harambee Stars head coach Benni McCarthy, Senate Speaker Amason Kingi, and other national and local leaders.
