Vihiga boss Alumira confident of retaining title

Vihiga Queens head coach Alex Alumira is optimistic he will retain the Kenyan Women Premier League title.

Alumira guided his charges to a routine win, a  2-1 victory against stubborn Wadadia last Saturday at the Mumias Sports Complex with Maureen Aching and Terry Engesha scoring a goal each to seal the win while Wadadia’s consolation goal came from Ruth Chebungei in the 58th minute and the coach believes the win puts them in a strong position to retain the gong.

“Despite the win against Wadadia , I wasn’t satisfied by how my players performed . They missed many clear chances more so in the first half but I thank them for the win.

Our dream is to lift the league. I know it will not be easy but we shall try our best to fulfill it,” explained the tactician.

At the same time Alumira says he’s identified new players to sign but did not reveal their identity.

The weekend victory took Vihiga’s points tally to  24 in the Zone B league.
