Vihiga coach Okoth takes swipe at FKF-PL over frequent fixture changes

Vihiga United head coach Sammy Okoth has taken a swipe at Football Kenya Federation Premier League over frequent fixture changes.

The former Zoo Kericho tactician says it is imprudent to have venues changed without proper planning as it ends up inconveniencing the teams.

Okoth has voiced his concerns after his boys were given a 3-1 drubbing by Francis Kimanzi’s Wazito FC over the weekend.

The fixture was initially set for the Narok Stadium but later changed to MISC Kasarani Stadium only to be played at Utalii grounds.

“I’m not happy going by the situation we went through. We knew Narok was the venue of the clash yet we were asked to retreat to Kasarani reason being that it(the match) will be beamed live on the television only to be again told that we are playing at Utalii which is an open ground,” complained Okoth.

Okoth has called upon the fixtures committee to plan appropriately without making untimely changes which end up affecting countryside teams such as Vihiga United.

“They need to hear our concerns and to act swiftly. I have spoken as head coach but our bosses will definitely take this at a higher level, it calls for sobriety in planning.”

Okoth has at the same time assured fans that United will measure up to the fight in the top division and will not be caught up in a relegation dog fight as before.

The league returnees who lie bottom of the 18-team league table after round two face Nzoia Sugar in their third match of the season after losing two on the trot thanks to a 0-1 defeat to Kakamega Homeboyz in their opener in Mumias.
