Vihiga Queens keen on pulling a record
Kenya Women Premier League champions Vihiga Queens will not
fold their sleeves but instead push all the way to the invincible record this
season, says head coach Boniface Nyamunyamu.
The four time league champions have only one task remaining - to achieve the unbeaten record with four matches remaining – against Kangemi
Starlets, Thika Queens, Wadadia Girls and Bunyore Queens and Nyamunyamu insists
that they are focused.
“To win the league with some matches to go means a lot in
terms of players’ motivation and there is no other better way than that. We are
so happy to lift the title and become the Kenyan champions for another time. We
are only left with four matches to play; Kangemi, Thika, Wadadia and Bunyore,”
Nyamunyamu said.
Consequently, Nyamunyamu has warned that he will not hand
any player a direct call into the starting eleven unless they show in the
training that they are ready for the task.
“No, I can say that you know our match day squad always
depends on how well and convincing the players have been in our training.
“So provided you train well then you will be in the team and
at no time we will promise our players of playing time unless they show it in
the training.
For that reason, we have been rotating our squad depending
on how our players have shown in training and that is it,” Nyamunyamu added.
He has also urged the government to quickly see to it that
FIFA withdraws their suspension that was slapped on Kenya for international
football as the girls are still optimistic of returning to the African Club
Women Champions League.
“We are urging that this suspension or ban- Kenyan
suspension on international football by FIFA- should be resolved quickly
because the international exposure really helps because when you go out to play
other teams and then return home, you will definitely play very well putting in
mind that there is a ticket you are looking for to qualify to the Champions
League,” Nyamunyamu concluded.
