Volleyball: Bitok says all set for Eldoret City Open
Malkia Strikers Head Coach Paul Bitok says plans are underway
for the Eldoret City Open Volleyball tournament that will be held next weekend
at the Eldoret Sports Club.
The tournament forms part of Bitok and the Uasin Gishu
County's bid to further popularise the sport by supporting schools and institutions
of higher learning by providing them with training equipment.
Participating teams will be required to pay registration fees
with the funds used to purchase balls, kits and other training gear for selected
high schools and college volleyball teams across the country.
“The aim of this event is to grow together with Eldoret City
as the government of Uasin Gishu looks forward to launching it in the coming
years. And we saw it important to support our country in sports and athletics.”
“We will give good prizes to the winners and the runners-up
in the senior category and self-supporting teams. We will also help some
secondary and College teams with items like nets and balls,” Bitok said.
KCB and KDF are among the line-up of teams expected to
participate in the tournament which also includes teams from across East
Africa.
