Why Gor wont pay axed star Oliech

Kenyan all time top scorer Dennis Oliech is a man under siege after Gor Mahia terminated his contract and vowed not to pay any monies owed to him.

Gor CEO Lordvic Aduda says it is Oliech who breached the contract through  disobedience and regular absconding of training sessions without permission.

Aduda says Gor will not pay off Oliech’s sign on fee balance since FIFA regulations stipulates that if a player’s contract is terminated through gross misconduct, he will then not be eligible for termination dues.

“It’s not our fault. We gave him the matching orders at the recommendations of the technical bench. He has been absconding training sessions without even notifying the technical bench. This to us is gross misconduct,” Aduda told Citizen Digital.

Oliech who joined Gor at the beginning of the 2018 season has not played since May 5 2019 when he suffered an arm fracture in Kisumu after a collision with western Stima’s Junior Mukhisa in the 60th minute of the KPL match.

Before joining Gor, Oliech had been out of active football since June 2015 when he featured for Harambee Stars in a 2-1 loss to Zambia in an Afcon qualifier at Nyayo stadium.

His fitness level been a subject of discussion ever since he joined Gor with the former Mathare United man failing to see the back of the net on numerous occasions.

The begging question is whether Dennis will seek legal redress over the remainder of his sign on fee which the club says he will not be paid to him.

At some point Oliech went on a go slow demanding the release of his sign on fee and after negotiations with the club top brass, he resumed training.

Former Harambee Stars tactician Sebastian Migne is on record saying he sidelined Oliech from his squad due to lack demonstration of his ability to score goals.

With the KPL transfer window fast approaching to a close, Oliech is likely to be locked out of KPL action in the 2019/2010 season.

Gor play their league opening match in Kisumu on Saturday against Tusker FC.
