Mathare United Women head coach Ann Aluoch is impressed with her team after stunning Gor Mahia 1-0 at the weekend, as the second leg of the National Super League (NSL) campaign kicked off.

The crucial win delighted head coach Ann Aluoch, who hailed her players for bouncing back strongly after their only defeat of the season, which came in the final match of the first leg.

According to Aluoch, the triumph not only restored confidence within the camp but also underlined Mathare’s determination to maintain their impressive form.

No coach prepares his team to lose; we came back from our previous defeat and put in the work. It was not an easy fixture given that it was a derby; thankfully, we emerged winners. " She told Citizen Digital.

Aluoch attributed the team’s outstanding performance in the first half of the season to meticulous preparation and disciplined execution on the pitch.

She expressed satisfaction with how her players have responded to training and tactical instructions, which has seen them remain consistent and competitive throughout the campaign.

"Good preparation in the first leg is what saw us record good results; we only lost one match to Mombasa Olympic, and I'm grateful to my team. " She added.

Looking ahead, the Mathare coach acknowledged that the second leg will present tougher challenges, with every team now fully prepared and eager to improve their standings.

She noted that each fixture will feel like a final, demanding maximum focus and commitment from her side.

It will not be easy because every game will be treated as a final, but we're prepared."

Despite the anticipated challenges, Aluoch remains confident in her squad’s readiness, insisting that the team has prepared adequately to sustain their title push.

Mathare United Women currently lead the NSL standings with 31 points, a position they will be keen to defend as the race for promotion and silverware intensifies in the second half of the season.
