Wokorach back to boost wounded Kabras

Kabras Sugar RFC have recalled Ugandan sensation Philip Wokarach for their Kenya Cup round 9 fixture against Resolution Kisii RFC at the Mamboleo Showground Kisumu on Saturday.

Kabras will count on the prolific winger for inspiration as they look to bounce back from last weekend’s shock defeat to Menengai Cream Homeboyz.

Wokorach, who sustained injury during the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series opening leg in Dubai, will replace former Blak Blad maestro Andrew Gathua who has provided good cover thanks to his masterful ability to control match proceedings.

The damaging defeat at Homeboyz saw them drop to third in the 12-team Kenya Cup log but head coach Charles Cardovillis backed his charges to get their title bid back track.

“I was saddened by that loss but that’s history now. We move on to the next one and hopefully we can execute our plan on Saturday,” Cardovillis said.

Other potentially exciting matches on the cards include Stanbic Mwamba RFC against Nondescripts RFC at the Railway Club while Resolution Impala Saracens RFC host a wounded Top Fry Nakuru at the Impala Club.

Mwamba are flirting with relegation after rivals Resolution Kisii edged them out in the previous round and a positive result against Nondies could haul them closer to safety.

Homeboyz will be looking to consolidate second place on the log when they host Blak Blad at the Jamhuri Park while leaders KCB RFC make the trip to Mombasa for what is, on paper, a lopsided encounter with Regional Logistics.

Kenya Harlequins will host Strathmore Leos at the RFUEA grounds with both teams in need of a win in order to boost their hopes of featuring in the March playoffs.
