Zetech Sparks braced for KWPL homestretch

Zetech Sparks head Coach Benard Kitolo has urged his charges to fight to win their last four matches as they strive the target of a top three finish in the Kenyan Women Premier League (KWPL).

Sparks were spanked 3-1 last Saturday by the newly crowned champions Vihiga Queens to leave them stuck in fifth place with 30 points and Kitolo says they cannot afford to drop any more points.

“It’s so unfortunate that we lost our last match against Vihiga because that was a good opportunity to climb into fourth place. We must continue fighting until the end of the season,” Kitolo said.

The tactician gave the overall assessment that he was pleased with their season so far given it was only their debut year in the top-flight.

Their last four fixtures include clashes against Wadadia, Bunyore Starlets, Nakuru City Queens and Ulinzi Starlets.

“This season is almost done and for now I am focusing of improving my squad for next season. I look forward to signing at least seven players whom I have already identified. The seven comprise of a goalkeeper, a defender, a midfielder and four strikers.

“As we talk I have already secured the signature of midfielder Margaret Aringo who has played for the national under-20 team. She is a talented and I’m sure she will help the team a lot next season,” Kitolo added.

Ahead of their Sunday fixture against Wadadia at the GEMS Cambridge in Nairobi, Kitolo is optimistic of good results.

“We have prepared well for the match against Wadadia and everything is okay in the team. The morale is high and I am expecting nothing than a win.

“My big problem was with my lethal striker and Foscah Nashivanda who missed a lot of chances in our last match against Vihiga but I spoke to her in training and she has assured me of good display and more goals.”

Other matches on card this weekend will witness Gaspo playing Bunyore Starlets at the Stima Members Club in Nairobi, Kangemi Ladies and Vihiga Queens in Ligi Ndogo while Nakuru City Queens will entertain Kayole Starlets at he ASK Showground Nakuru.
