Kalonzo Musyoka meets businessman Jimi Wanjigi ahead of Kitui rally
After storming out of Musalia Mudavadi's coronation at the Bomas of Kenya on Sunday, Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and businessman Jimi wanjigi held a consultative meeting in what they say will result in a major announcement.
Though they declined to address journalists, Wanjigi stated that a major pact was in the offing.
Kalonzo will from Thursday ringfence his support base with a three-day campaign tour of the three Ukambani counties.
He will on Thursday be accompanied by Wanjigi, who is also eyeing the country’s top seat, in an address at the Kitui Stadium.
Kalonzo and fellow One Kenya Alliance (OKA) co-principal Gideon Moi as well as Wanjigi walked out of Mudavadi's function at Bomas after Deputy President William Ruto allied MPs made a grand entry to the auditorium.
They later severed ties with the Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader saying they could not condone his political games and that they were moving to “higher grounds.”
"Our principals Kalonzo Musyoka and Gideon Moi out of respect honored his invitation as a co-principal to attend the Bomas event and congratulated him for being nominated by his party to go and look for more friends," OKA spokesperson Fredrick Okango said in a statement.
"Unfortunately we have to part ways since some of his friends are not our friends and we are unsafe with them. We are therefore moving to higher grounds where Kenyans are safer."
