Another Nigeria titan Amodu, 58, dies at the same city as Keshi

Another former Nigeria Super Eagles coach, Amodu Shuaibu has died suddenly aged 58 in his sleep even before the nation buries one of his successors and former captain, Stephen Keshi. Nigerian media reported Saturday morning that Shuaibu passed on in Benin City, three days after Keshi died in the same town. “The Edo State Commissioner for Information, Kazeem Afegbua, called me this morning to inform me of Amodu’s death. “His corpse has been deposited at the Stella Obasanjo Hospital morgue in Benin City,” Edo Football Association chairman, Frank Ilaboya, told The Punch. Amodu qualified the Super Eagles to the 2002 and 2010 World Cups but was never given the chance to coach the team at Japan and South Korea and South Africa tournaments. In 1990, he led local club BCC Lions to the Africa Cup Winners Cup and until his demise, he was the technical director at Nigeria Football Federation. -Story developing
