‘Ukituletea Raila tena tutakufunga kamba,’ Kalonzo tells Wanjigi
Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has cautioned his current campaign partner businessman Jimi Wanjigi against luring him and his One Kenya Alliance (OKA) team to rally behind ODM leader Raila Odinga ahead of the August elections.
Citing past polls, Kalonzo divulged that Wanjigi, who has long been allied to Odinga and is still on an ODM party member, has always persuaded him to support the former premier’s presidential bid.
Kalonzo, while speaking at a rally in Makueni County on Friday, acknowledged Wanjigi’s persuasion power saying he should not be underestimated.
He cautioned that if Wanjigi intends to go back to his persuading tactics, he (Kalonzo) would not fall for it this time round.
“Huyu Jimi Wanjigi ndio aliunganisha Uhuru na Ruto. Aliwaunganisha na akaniletea 2013. Huyu Jimi ndio 2017 nikikataa aliniletea Raila Odinga tukaungangana na yeye. Huyu ako na ushawishi mkubwa. Anajua kupanga siasa za Kenya,” Kalonzo said.
“Safari hii Jimi, ata kukiwa nini even if the heavens fall, sababu siasa ya Kenya iko na mambo mingi, hatutakubali.”
While acknowledging his mediation and mobilizing power, Kalonzo facetiously warned Wanjigi against leading him to follow Odinga, affirming that his name would be on the ballot come August.
“Ukicheza na hawa in-laws wako, msichana wetu tutachukua. Ukituletea tena ati, unga huyu, mara unga huyu, wewe mwenyewe tutakufunga kamba,” Kalonzo stated.
The Wiper chief similarly dismissed claims of a pact where President Uhuru Kenyatta was backing the former premier for the top seat, asserting that the Head of State had not officially endorsed the ODM leader.
He outrightly pointed out that the relationship between President Kenyatta and Odinga was solely because of the handshake and should not be misunderstood to mean that the latter is the former’s preferred successor.
“Uhuru has not endorsed Raila, that is a fact. Maybe because of the handshake they have to be seen together; sijaskia Rais Kenyatta akisema Raila tosha,” Kalonzo noted.
