Cryptocurrency platform Bitget recently held a community education event in Nairobi aimed at introducing young Kenyans to blockchain technology and digital finance.
Held in the city centre, the Kenya Community Education Day attracted
over 110 attendees, including students, young professionals, and crypto-curious
residents.
The event featured live sessions led by blockchain educator Munene Mathendu,
who guided participants through topics such as the basics of blockchain, how
cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin function, and the use of crypto wallets.
The Nairobi forum is part of Bitget’s global “Blockchain4Youth”
campaign, which seeks to equip youth with digital finance knowledge amid
growing interest in Web3 technologies.
Participants engaged in discussions on the opportunities and risks of
digital assets, including the difference between custodial and non-custodial
wallets.
The event drew local influencers, Bitget users, and crypto community
members, reflecting the rising enthusiasm for decentralized finance in Kenya.
It also highlighted the broader trend of youth-driven adoption of blockchain
tools across Africa.
Bitget launched the Blockchain4Youth initiative in 2023, with the goal
of reaching young people through education events, university partnerships, and
online resources.
Kenya’s growing tech-savvy population and increasing smartphone penetration
make it a key market for such programs.
As Web3 continues to expand in Kenya and the wider region, events like
these are seen as stepping stones toward greater financial inclusion, digital
literacy, and local innovation.
Bitget, founded in 2018, operates a global cryptocurrency exchange and
non-custodial wallet service, with users across more than 150 countries.
