Inaugural Cyberweek Africa cybersecurity conference kicks off

The inaugural Cyberweek Africa- 2023 cybersecurity conference kicked off on Monday (October 30, 2023) at the University of Nairobi.

The event, organized by Cyberpro Global, a leading provider of educational technologies and cyber training solutions, is set to run till Wednesday, November 1, 2023.

With the aim of bridging cybersecurity skills gap in Africa, the event brings together academia, government institutions, private sectors, the industry and funding agencies to collaborate and innovate.

Key attendees and speakers include delegates and African leaders/experts in cybersecurity from Angola, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, and among others.

 Others are government representatives from the ministries of ICT and Defense and representatives from leading industry organizations including Cyberpro Global, Microsoft, Cisco, Hewlett Packard, Cisco, and Microsoft.

Today, some of the key speakers included, Sanjiv Sharma (Director EC Council), Benjamin Mwendo (Director - Cyberpro Global), Haider Chaudhary (Cyber Security Expert), JoylynnKirui (Senior Cloud Security Advocate at Microsoft) and Professor Christopher Chepken - Department of Computing and Informatics, University of Nairobi.

“All businesses that have a digital footprint are vulnerable to cyber-attacks. We therefore need to keep pace with the evolving technology,”Sanjiv Sharma said.

Strengthen cyber resilience: Advocating for committed leadership by government, support for criticalnational infrastructure, strong collaboration with business & academia, and active participation of every citizen in a progressive society.
