Instagram Stories under 1 minute will no longer be broken into 15-second clips

Instagram is extending the length limit of videos shared on its Stories feature from 15 seconds to 1 minute.

Originally, one-minute videos shared on Instagram Stories would be broken into 15-second clips but the Meta-owned platform says it is rolling out the ability for users to upload longer uninterrupted Stories.

“We are always working on ways to improve the Stories experience. Now, you’ll be able to play and create Stories continuously for up to 60 seconds, instead of being automatically cut into 15 second clips,” a Meta representative told American outlet TechCrunch.

With a 60-second limit for Stories, this means users will have another option to share one-minute clips, apart from Reels.

Instagram has of late been shifting to video in what has been seen as an attempt to compete with its younger video-sharing site, TikTok.

In June, Instagram also extended the limit for videos shared on Reels from 60 seconds to 90 seconds.

The company also started automatically classifying all videos shorter than 15 minutes uploaded to the platform as Reels.
