The High Court in Kisii County has ordered the disposal of fifteen unclaimed bodies at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.

Senior Principal Magistrate Carolyne Ocharo granted the application sought by the hospital’s management under a certificate of urgency.

According to the application, some of the bodies are from the hospital wards while others were brought in by police officers from stations within the county.

"The unclaimed bodies have brought congestion in the morgue, contrary to the public health regulations," the hospital management disclosed.

The unclaimed bodies which have been lying in the mortuary for a period of between one and two years will be disposed off at the Kisii County Government Cemetery.
