According to witnesses, the rider was heading to Kitale from Eldoret when the accident happened.
Matunda OCPD Charles Muthui said that the passenger and the rider sustained injuries on the head, hands and legs.
"I am told a pickup truck which belong to the Eldoret Water Sources Authority was heading to Kitale when the accident happened,” said Mr Muthui.
“The boda boda was coming from a feeder road to the main road, and he was in a rush to cross and that’s when he was hit while making the cross," he added.
They two were rushed to Matunda hospital where they are currently undergoing treatment.
Road users in the area have asked the relevant department to put up speed-bumps on the road to help reduce accident cases.
"Vehicles moving from Kitale are always speeding, yet we have a school here. We need bumps erected at this spot to prevent recurring accidents," said Chris Mwangala, a bodaboda operator in the area.
Boda boda riders in the area have been asked to be careful when on the road to avoid accidents.
The motorcycle and the vehicle involved in the accident were taken to Matunda police station.
