It has been said that better late than never.

The saying rings true for a 37-year-old mother of six who will be sitting this year's KCSE examination at Kibisi Friends High School, Bungoma County.

Meatrine Maruti Sikuku sat her Standard Eight exam in 1997 and got 507 marks.

She enrolled at Lugulu High School, but dropped out before she could reach Form Two after being unable to raise fees.

Sikuku returned to school in 2020 and is now a candidate for the KCSE national exam.

She, however, said she has had challenges raising fees for her two children to enrol for university and high school.

The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam will take place from December 1-23.
