Residents of Samia Sub-County, Busia, have expressed growing frustration over the deteriorating state of local roads, which they say is hindering daily activities and economic development.

The poor infrastructure has become a major concern for residents and traders.

The roads in the area, especially during the rainy season, have become almost impassable, with potholes, erosion, and unmaintained surfaces making travel difficult and unsafe.

Many residents report that the condition of the roads has worsened over the past few years, significantly impacting

access to markets, schools, and health facilities.

“The roads are impassable and something needs to be done as a matter of urgency,” Jacob Mangeni, a resident of Samia area, said.

Local residents are calling on the county government to prioritize road repairs and maintenance in the region.

“These leaders were elected by the people who hoped they would change the face of Samia, but they have continued to kill those hopes,” Foden Maloba commented.

The sub-county’s residents have organized several campaigns to raise awareness about the issue, but progress remains slow.
