Residents of Imilini village in Machakos are still reeling in shock a few days after a dead body of a man was discovered inside a trench.
The lifeless body of Isaiah Kisiko Kasoka, aged 64 years, which was discovered by residents a few days ago, has become the subject of muted talks.
Although Kasoka was known for his battle with alcohol addiction, his mysterious death has shocked the residents.
According to the residents, it is not every day that one tumbles upon a dead body lying on the side of the road in the quiet village.
There are rumours doing rounds that the deceased may have been hit by a cart that was transporting logs fatally injuring him.
According to witnesses, the body of the deceased had no visible marks.
His brother John Nduva said the family is yet to come to terms with the loss.
“I went to look for my brother after he had failed to return home only to find his dead body lying in a trench,” said Nduva.
According to Nduva, his brother was last seen at the Imilini shopping centre allegedly looking drunk, just hours before his body was discovered.
The family want the police to investigate the incident amid claims that the deceased may have been a victim of hit and run.
Area Assistant Chief Hellen Zakayo confirmed the incident.
Police officers from Kathiani police station were called to the scene.
The body was moved to Kathiani Level Four Hospital morgue.
