The family of a teenager who died within church premises is seeking justice for her death.

A postmortem done on the body of the 13-year-old girl who burnt to death within church premises is complete.

The report showed the girl, Christine Chelegat, died after sustaining burn injuries on 100 per cent body area.

Investigations are underway after allegations that a cleric at the church razed the facility with the girl inside after being accused of defiling the minor.

However, KAG Bishop Eric Muthomi denied reports the girl was defiled by a cleric and that she died inside the church, saying she died within the compound.

He said the accused man was a caretaker.

"We are cooperating with the police to ensure Chelegat's family gets justice. However, let it be known that reports that the girl was defiled and set on fire are not true," he said.

Laikipia county criminal investigations officer Onesmus Towett said DNA samples had been taken from the body during the postmortem to determine whether the girl was defiled.

Chelegat will be laid to rest on Saturday.
