Female police officer hospitalized after vehicle hits her while on duty; driver on the run

A female police officer is undergoing treatment after a speeding vehicle hit her while on duty.
The officer, Salome Ndumbi, was guarding a local bank at Kagio trading centre in Kirinyaga County when the accident happened.
Mwea-West sub-county police commander Wilson Koskei said a search operation has been mounted for the driver of the vehicle who fled the scene.
The ill-fated vehicle was heading from Sagana to Kagio, before the driver lost control of the vehicle, veering off the road.
The officer sustained fractures on both legs and was rushed to Kagio nursing home and later transferred to Tenri Hospital in Embu where she is receiving treatment.
Koskei added that the vehicle has been towed to Sagana police station.
