Five-fold blessing for farmer as goat delivers five kids in Embu

A farmer in Embu County is counting his blessings after his goat delivered five kids at a go. One of them died later but this did little to stop the farmer from welcoming his new-found herd gleefully.

Job Njiru Nyaga, from Kathuri village in Mbeti North in Embu West Sub County, has received visitors in droves, with may keen to catch a glimpse of the goat and her kids.

Dairy farmers visiting the home looked on in admiration as a jubilant Nyaga smiled at his struck of lady luck.

"I developed an interest in keeping dairy goats back in 2011 after realizing there was shortage of goat milk in our village. I am overjoyed after my goat delivered five kids. Unfortunately, one of them died," Nyaga told Citizen Digital.

An elated farmer, Njiru is not keen on selling his precious goat anytime soon. He has since nicknamed the mother of five 'Jane', as a show of his endearment.

Sammy Gitonga, a veterinary officer, said goats normally deliver between one to three kids per birth. He cited the case of Nyaga's goat as a rare occurrence- far from the average across all goat breeds.
