Four arrested in Garissa as Ksh400,000 bhang seized

Police in Garissa town have arrested four suspects in a sting operation at Windsor area and impounded bang worth more than Ksh400,000.

The two men and two women were nabbed in a house following a tip off from members of the public.

The bhang included 676 sachets,187 rolls and other assorted drugs with a street value of Ksh413,000.

Addressing the press at the Garissa Police Station on Saturday, County Commissioner Boaz Cherutich, who is the chairman of the county security committee, said the four will be arraigned in court on Monday once investigations are complete.

Cherutich, who was flanked by top security officials including the county police commander, said the drugs are smuggled through Ethiopia.

According to Cherutich, the drugs were destined for the market in Garissa town and its environs.

The county commissioner said everyone must cooperate local administrators, parents, clerics, Nacada and youth themselves.

The security officials linked the current political intolerance during campaigns where politicians use intoxicated youths to disrupt opponent’s rallies.
