French woman dies after parachuting accident near Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet county

A French woman has died after sustaining severe injuries following a parachuting accident on the outskirts of Iten town, Keiyo North Sub-County, Elgeyo Marakwet County.

Confirming the incident, County Police Commander Peter Mulinge stated that they received a report from one Pierre Louis Henri Laurens.

Mulinge indicated that Laurens and his wife, Maud Frederique Binaud, were parachuting towards the Nyaru area in Keiyo South constituency when communication between them was lost.

The police boss added that after losing contact, Laurens was forced to land at Iten Sports Ground to call his wife.

The call was answered by an unidentified person who informed him that his wife had been involved in an accident and was receiving treatment at Iten Referral Hospital.

The body of the deceased has been taken to the hospital mortuary at Iten Referral Hospital, awaiting transfer to Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi.
