Fresh registration for bodaboda operators in Kisumu in efforts to tame crime

Bodaboda operators in Kisumu will be registered afresh in efforts to tame crime.

Kisumu county commissioner Josephine Ouko said this comes in the wake of accusations that some of the riders are involved in criminal activities.

"I want to urge all bodaboda operators to be part of this exercise. This will help tame incidents of crime in Kisumu," Ouko told Citizen Digital.

This comes as the government is set to issue licenses to riders who received training through the National Youth Service (NYS) in 2022.

Riders in Kisumu were part of the National bodaboda training, undertaken in collaboration with the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).

According to the facilitators, the training program is aimed at restoring order, discipline and reduction of accidents, attributed to human error in the bodaboda sector.
