Gitaru residents rush to siphon unrefined oil after truck overturns

A section of residents rushed to the scene to fetch the oil following the accident.

Confirming the incident, Kikuyu Deputy Police Commander, Evans Mose said that the unrefined oil is not safe for human consumption. 

The road was subsequently closed to prevent any other accident, causing a traffic snarlup.

Efforts are underway to tow the truck.

The accident occurred just a few days after a similar accident that involved a lorry that was ferrying oil overturned near the same spot. The residents now asking the government to speed up the Nairobi- Nakuru highway construction to prevent more accidents.
