A section of traders in Suba North, Homa Bay County have raised concern over insecurity in the area.

The business community in Kipasi market located in Lambwe Ward are among the most affected.

“We wish to raise concern over the spike in cases of insecurity in our area,” a trader said.

They added that an organized gang has been terrorizing locals and breaking into their shops.

“The rampant cases of break-ins targeting shops has seen us lose property of unknown value,” another added.

Kipasi Traders Association (KTA) chairman Charles Juma Onditi told Citizen Digital that more than twelve shops have been broken into at the centre.

“This has happened over a period of one month. Our traders are yet to come to terms with the recent development,” Onditi lamented.

The growing cases of crime, the traders feel, now pose as a threat to the region’s economic stability.

“We call upon the security team in Mbita to address the matter with urgency,” they concluded.
