Kakamega: Body of missing woman found buried at neighbour’s compound

Police are probing an incident where body parts allegedly belonging to a woman were found buried at a compound in Ikolomani constituency, Kakamega County.

The body was discovered by one Fabian Muteshi who had been harvesting soil for use in his new house.

Mr. Muteshi who stays in Kitengela, Kajiado County, had travelled to the village with his family to build their house – only for him to discover a human skull and bones buried in his compound.

A shocked Muteshi immediately informed the neighbours, before reporting the matter to the police.

"I was harvesting mud-soil for my new house which I am building, when I found the human skull with other body parts. I have never been so scared," he said.

In the meantime, the family of mzee Paul Lisiolo has identified the body as that of their 37-year-old daughter Rosa Kamoya who disappeared in September 2022.

"My daughter disappeared last year, while in the company of her two sisters in Shibuname, a nearby village, we have been looking for her ever since,” he said.

Lisiolo added that after viewing the body he was certain that it was that of her daughter.

Esther Khavukwi who is the sister to the deceased claims they reported the disappearance of their sister at Musoli police post, where suspects were arrested and released later.

Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) exhumed the body parts after obtaining a court order.

A postmortem is set to be done at the Kakamega county General Hospital.
