Residents of Kipsitet Trading Center in Soin/Sigowet Constituency in Kericho county staged peaceful demonstrations to protest the alarming rise in insecurity in the area.
The protests were sparked by a series of incidents, including the recent fatal stabbing of a young man, an increase in muggings, and the discovery of a bag of bhang in one of the residential buildings.
The residents expressed concern over the deteriorating security situation, linking it to the growing issues of alcohol and drug abuse in the area.
Through their spokesmen, the residents issued a seven-day ultimatum to the security agencies in Kericho County, demanding thorough investigations into their claims and the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for these crimes.
They warned that failure to address their concerns could result in them taking the law into their own hands.
