Kisii: Man dies by suicide over Ksh.140

Police in Kisii have launched investigations into the death of a middle-aged man, who reportedly committed suicide over a Ksh.140 row with his wife, which was meant for tithe.

The body of Nelson Ochora was discovered on Sunday evening, hours after his family left for church raising questions over the circumstances surrounding his death.

Nelson was last seen alive at his house in Bomatara village where his family left him moments before they left for church.

The man reportedly had an argument with his wife, after he demanded that she gives him Ksh.140.

"Mzee aliniitisha pesa za tithe nikamuuliza kama anaenda church akasema haendi, nikamuambia nimetuma pesa kanisa. Kuenda kuoga akatuma mtoto mkubwa kwa kibeti ya mama amletee pesa. Mtoto akaenda akamtolea ilikuwa imebaki 50 bob akampea...," said Nendi Osira, wife to the deceased.

"Nilipotoka kuoga, mtoto mmoja akasema ati baba ametuma huyu mwingine amtolee 50 bob akampea."

The family left for church until Sunday evening, and came back home only to be met with the ghastly sight of Nelson's body hanging from the kitchen roof. But his brother has however raised concerns over the death of the father of four, calling for a thorough probe into the matter.

The body of the deceased has been moved to the Kisii county morgue as police launch investigations into his death.
