The rains led to flooding in the expansive area, disrupting economic activities and livelihoods.
Residents told Wananchi Reporting that the flood waters washed through their homes and farms, leaving their houses half-sunk in the waters.
“This has become a common occurrence in this area during the rainy season. It is time the County government did something about this area,” said Kevin Aum, a resident of the area.
“Many families have lost property worth millions in the floods already. Some of these families have nowhere to turn to, with no homes to go to after the floods destroyed their houses,” said Aum.
“We are asking the county government to construct dams if possible to help deal with the perennial floods in this area,” said Aum.
Pictures seen by Wananchi Reporting show flooded homes and streets, with the waters reaching above the knee region.
Residents said that the floods have destroyed their crops and affected livestock in the area.
Many now fear they could be facing hunger in the future after the rains destroyed their farms.
