Kitengela: Rotting body of man found inside his house, wife says she’s awaiting its resurrection

A 58-year-old woman was on Thursday night taken into custody after police discovered the rotting body of her husband inside their house in Sifa farm, Kitengela.

According to the police, the woman had been living with her husband’s corpse in their house.

Police stormed the house after neighbours informed them about strange smell coming from the woman’s compound.

The officers forced their way into the woman’s house after she had denied them entry, and found the corpse lying next to her bed in her living room.

“The police went into the compound and found the woman alone. She looked sick, tired and emaciated. She was actually shaking a lot,” said a source.

According to the neighbours, the woman alleged that she had kept the body waiting its resurrection.

Neighbours said that the woman and her husband were members of a religious sect that restricted the consumption of foods, save for bananas and watermelons.

Also, the woman allegedly stayed in doors most of the time, and did not have any communication with her neighbours.

The couple did not have children with the woman allegedly siting that her faith did not allow her to have children.

The woman was taken to Mathare Hospital for treatment and evaluation, while the body of her husband was was taken to City mortuary awaiting burial at his home town in Nyeri.

The deceased who hails from Nyeri is a former employee of Nairobi County who retired a few years ago, while his wife, a Tanzanian national, is alleged to have been a lecturer at a local university in Tanzania.
