A leopard said to have been preying on livestock in Oloompaluani village, Kajiado County, has been successfully captured.

The wild cat was safely captured by officers from the Kenya Wildlife Service Problem Animal Control on Monday.

Residents who spoke to Wananchi Reporting said the wild animal had become a nuisance to livestock keepers in the area.

The locals, however, thanked KWS officers for their quick response.

“The leopard was transported to the veterinary clinic at KWS headquarters for examination to assess its physical condition and physiological needs,” noted KWS in a public communication.

The officers said that the animal will be reintroduced into a suitable natural habitat, far from human settlements, once cleared.

KWS has urged members of public to promptly report any wildlife sightings in human settlement areas via Toll Free Number or to the nearest KWS station for immediate intervention.
