Lamu: Mitumba traders move their wares to the streets to attract fasting customers

A section of mitumba traders operating in Amu area, Lamu County, have resorted to taking their wares to the streets as customers frequent their makeshift stalls have declined during the Ramadhan period.

The traders have also set up at a jua kali site in a bid to attract customers.

"We have to take our wares to the people so that they have the clothes at their convenience," one trader said. 

The month of Ramadhan began on March 22 and runs until April 20 this year.

Traders have complained about reduction in sales as they try to make ends meet.

This has forced them to use several tactics in a bid to win customers, including relocating and offering discounts.
