A Kirinyaga man accused of being hired to kill a woman’s husband has been denied bond for the third time by the Wang’uru Law Courts.

Samuel Mwangi Karabu, also known as Maraga, is charged with conspiracy to commit a felony and conspiracy to murder. He is accused of plotting to abduct Josephine Wameru Kinyua and kill James Kimani Mutithika of Nguka village in Mwea.

Karabu is alleged to have conspired with Faith Wagaturi Kimani and David Kinyua Gakuya between October 7 and 13, 2025, at Club Buffalo in Kagio Township, Kirinyaga West. His co-accused, Kimani and Gakuya, were released on bond.

According to the prosecution, Karabu was hired by Kimani to kill her husband and abduct her co-wife but failed to carry out the plan, leading to a dispute over payment. Prosecutors further told the court that Karabu has another case of robbery with violence pending before an Embu court, scheduled for mention on January 26, 2026.

“The accused is not suitable for release on bail or bond at this stage,” the prosecution said, citing the pending robbery with violence case and the seriousness of the charges. The court agreed and declined to grant bond.

The bail application will be heard again on February 2, 2026. Karabu remains remanded at Mwea GK Prison.
