Man on the run after hacking wife with a panga in Kericho

Area Chief Cyrus Cheruiyot said that the suspect, Welson Kirui, is on the run after he attacked his wife with a panga at Lelach village in Bureti sub county.

"He hacked his wife with a panga, inflicting serious injuries on various parts of her body," Cheruiyot said.

He added that the suspect's wife had asked him to expedite the construction of a family house for them.

"Kirui did not take his wife's words kindly and attacked her, leaving her with life-threatening injuries," he noted.

The woman raised an alarm, but despite her cries for help, the neighbors did not respond. The man quickly fled the scene.

She was later rushed to Kenene Health Center, where she received treatment and was eventually allowed to return home.

Cheruiyot urged couples to resolve their disputes peacefully, rather than resorting to violence.

A manhunt has since been launched for the fleeing husband.
