Matatu passengers escape death narrowly after brakes fail, vehicle plunges into ditch on Bomet-Narok Highway

Several passengers narrowly escaped death on Wednesday evening when a matatu driver lost control of his vehicle and veered off the road at Kipsoen area in Longisa along the Bomet-Narok highway. 

The minibus, headed to Nairobi, plunged into a ditch after failing to navigate a sharp bend.

A witness at the scene, John Kipchirchir, said, "It all happened so quickly. One moment, the matatu was on the road, and the next it had swerved off into the ditch."

Quick response from residents saw the passengers evacuated, and they were later treated for minor injuries at Longisa County Referral Hospital. 

The vehicle was towed away, and no fatalities were reported.
