Migori:Over 100,000 litres of illicit brew destroyed during crackdown

Over 100,000 litres of illicit brew have been destroyed and several people arrested since the crackdown on illicit brew began in Migori County.

This is according to a report released by the county commissioner’s office.

Migori County Commissioner David Gitonga said the crackdown on illicit brew is still on, even as he warned those involved in the outlawed business.

“The multi agency team is still traversing villages to ensure that illicit brew is kicked out of the county,” Gitonga said.

He added that they have seized over 1000 kilograms of bhang since the crackdown started.

“We have also seized several vehicles and arrested suspects who were found in possession of bhang,” he added.

He has appealed to the members of the public to work closely with the police so that the ongoing crackdown can bear more fruits.

The county commissioner said drugs are ruining youth in the country and therefore all stakeholders must come out to fight it for the sake of the coming generation.

He said the police will continue with the fight without fear or favor and therefore urged the people involved in the business to stop forthwith.
