Mombasa: Woman arrested over sale of illicit brew in Likoni

A woman has been arrested in Likoni, Mombasa County, during a crackdown on drugs and illicit brew.
The operation was conducted by police in collaboration with the National Authority for the Campaign against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA).
According to the authorities, the woman was apprehended in Kunku Villa, Likoni. The joint operation was aimed at eradicating illegal alcohol and drug activities.
“The operation was led by the County Commissioner in partnership with NACADA officials, the Department of Alcohol Control, and County Inspections,” police said.
The woman is accused of being involved in the production of chang’aa, as well as the sale of counterfeit alcohol, activities that pose significant health and economic risks to the community.
The suspect has been detained and will face charges in court.
Security officials emphasized that such operations will continue to protect citizens’ lives and to combat crimes related to illicit alcohol.
The move follows the government’s announcement of a crackdown on the sale and production of illegal alcohol and drugs nationwide, as part of efforts to safeguard public health and curb criminal activities.
