Nyamira County Government has launched a programme that uses drones for drug distribution to shorten the time it takes to get essential supplies to those who need it.
The drones can handle packages of up to three kilograms and will be used to deliver medicine, blood, vaccines and other emergency needs from the drug depot located in Chemilil, Kisumu county, to public hospitals.
Speaking during the launch on Wednesday at the Riang'ombe clinic in Borabu, Governor Amos Nyaribo said the drones will deliver supplies quickly.
Health CEC Dr. Ombati Mokua said, " The technology will help reduce the cost of transporting emergency goods and will reach the villages where vehicles are sometimes unable to access."
