Nyamira: Losses as fire razes business premises in North Mugirango

Traders at Ikonge area in Nyamira County are counting losses following a fire incident.

Police officers based in North Mugirango said they are investigating the incident.

Several business premises at the market were razed down by the inferno, leaving behind a trail of destruction.

"The fire broke out at around 9 pm on Sunday night. We rushed here when he got the distress call," a trader told Citizen Digital.

Joint efforts by the county fire brigade and locals to help put out the fire bore no fruit.

"The fire brigade team arrived at the scene about 20 minutes after the fire broke out."

Police officer noted that a probe is ongoing to help establish the cause of the fire.

Meanwhile, traders have appealed for support to help construct their structures which were reduced to ashes.
