One killed as vehicle ferrying ethanol bursts into flames as driver tried to evade police

The driver of a vehicle ferrying ethanol was fatally injured when it burst into flames as he sped, trying to evade police trailing him.
Three others were injured, including a boda boda rider and his riding pillion passenger, as they got caught up in the melee.
The three were admitted to Kakamega General Hospital in critical condition.
The accident happened at the Makhoko Commercial Centre on the Kakamega-Kisumu highway.
According to James Kisa, a witness, the driver was trying to escape from police officers who had flagged the vehicle when he lost control of it and it hit a barrier, before rolling several times and caused a trail of destruction.
Police have launched investigations into the matter.
