Police in Mombasa County have intensified a search for three suspects who are linked to drug trafficking.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, police said the suspects were living in a house in Dunga Unuse area in Chaani, Changamwe Constituency.
"We received information from residents about the suspects and conducted a search at the said house. We found plants of marijuana at the backyard," police said.
Police added that the suspects had a stall adjacent to the house where they were selling the drugs. The three suspects however managed to escape the police dragnet.
"We appeal to members of the public to volunteer information that will help in this operation," police added. This comes amid a crackdown by police and local administrators seeking to weed out the vice in the region.
In April this year, four suspected drug traffickers were arrested by detectives at the Likoni Ferry in Mombasa County.
The four, Ali Mwakileo, Swaleh Mgoshi, Zacharia Mwakisuwa and Juma Mgoshi, are said to have been in the process of smuggling a substance suspected to be heroin when they were arrested.
