Probe as woman’s body found dumped in River Kuja, Migori County

Police have launched an investigation into the death of a 38-year-old woman whose body was found in a river.

According to Kanyasrega Assistant Chief Ezekiel Kokeyo, the body was recovered from River Kuja in Nyanginja village, Awendo Sub County.

Kokeyo stated that the family of the deceased, identified as Hilda Otieno, reported that she had gone missing from her Nairobi home several days prior to her body being found.

While the cause of death has not yet been determined, Kokeyo indicated that authorities suspect it may be a case of suicide.

The woman's body was discovered floating in the river by local residents.

The family’s account suggests she was struggling with depression following the death of her husband.

According to the family, the deceased had sent Ksh.40,000 to her younger brother in Nairobi, instructing him to care for her children before she disappeared.

The investigation continues as authorities seek to establish the exact circumstances surrounding her death.
